Albuca comprise four of the UK's most highly regarded improvising musicians; Ben Castle, Mark Edwards, Arnie Somogyi and Darren Beckett. Between them they have led their own critically acclaimed projects and performed with many of the world's leading jazz musicians - Gregory Porter, Jamie Cullum, Eddie Henderson, Bobby Hutcherson, Lee Konitz and Mark Turner, as well as a wide array of international stars - Radiohead, Madeleine Peyroux, Tom Jones, Amy Winehouse, Katie Melua, Paul Weller, Daryl Hall, Omar, Van Morrison and Sting to name but a few.
Joining the band for this short run of concerts, will be Adrian Utley, legendary guitarist, producer, composer and one of the founding members of iconic Bristol band, Portishead.
The band put their own spin and fresh arrangements on jazz standards, established and modern, as well as music, drawn from the outer edges of their eclectic influences and experience.
They completed their first tour in the spring of 2019 and recorded their forthcoming debut album in one live room at Echo Zoo Studios, Eastbourne, directly to analogue 2-track tape. The album was produced by Adrian Utley, and centres around the Steinway grand piano, rescued from Eastbourne's Congress Theatre and played in December 1973 by Duke Ellington on his final recorded concert, 'The Eastbourne Performance, released on the RCA label in 1975.
