We are delighted to be bringing one of the country's brightest young guitar talents to Durham as part of his Autumn 2020 UK tour. Jack Blackman is fast developing into one the most accomplished and exciting young performers on the roots scene today. He has appeared at venues and festivals the length and breadth of UK and has also travelled to the US to play in the home of the blues; the fabled Mississippi Delta.
Hailing from the midlands, many of Jack's songs are inspired by the folklore and stories of his native Warwickshire, though his tales of love, loss and life on the road reflect the influence of his favourite writers; Jack Kerouac, Charles Bukowski and Harry Crews.
With a voice that has been described as sounding 'older and more careworn than his tender years should allow' (Acoustic Magazine) Jack has quite the backstory - he cut his musical teeth (while still in his teens) trading licks with luminaries such as Paul Jones, The Blues Band as well as the late, great Tony Joe White no less.
Jack has received high praise from acclaimed singer/songwriter Martin Simpson who said, 'At last! A brilliant young guitarist coming through'. 'Whispering' Bob Harris doesn't hold back either, describing Jack's guitar playing as 'exceptional'.
