The Mighty Doonans are back at Town Hall Live for their annual appearance, their sixth. The nine piece family band have a deserved reputation for their imaginative interpretations of traditional and contemporary songs. With electric guitars, fiddle, keyboards, saxophone, pipes, bass and drums, the band have the ability to blend different genres of music, dance and the occasional joke into their act. It leads to thoroughly entertaining performances that delight audiences wherever they play. A great night is guaranteed.
The band formed from The Doonan Family Band, that included the then 'youngsters, Mick Doonan, Kevin Doonan, Phil Murray and Stu Luckley, who had played in folk-rock bands such as Hedgehog Pie and Jack The Lad in the 70's. On forming The Mighty Doonans the four were joined by Ian 'Walter' Fairburn, along with next generation family members Frances Doonan, Rosie Doonan, Ben Murray and Jamie Luckley.
The Mighty Doonans continue to deliver their traditions and influences with powerhouse arrangements, such as Sam Cooke's 'Bring it on Home' an sensitive interpretations of songs like Eddie Pickford's 'Johnny Miner'. A great night is guaranteed.
