Sorry, This Event is in the past!
Another live music event in Billericay. And I couldn?t think of anyone better to play at our first indoor event now that the government has given permission for socially distanced indoor events to take place. Tinderbox will play at Emmanuel Church, Billericay, on Friday 19 September at 19.30 hrs (Doors at 18.45 hrs).
Tinderbox are some of our favourite musicians, we count Dan and Monique as friends, they are really lovely people (as well as being accomplished musicians) and we are delighted to welcome them back to Billericay. They?ve always been very well received when they?ve played Billericay in the past. You may remember: Saint Marys in February 2014; the Mini-Folk Fest in July 2016 and the intimacy of the Rectory in April 2018.
We?ve seen them several times over the years both locally, at the Wessex Folk Festival as well as at the smallest venue in London (the basement of the Green Note in Camden). A Tinderbox gig is not to be missed!
Numbers are limited to comply with COVID-19 guidelines and everyone will be expected to social distance at 2.0 m. It also means there will be a separate entrance and exit, and you will need to sanitise on entrance and exit. People will be expected to fill up from the front and directed where to sit. This is the best way to ensure everyone keeps their distance. It is looking very likely that we will soon be expected to wear masks to indoor events.
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND IF YOU ARE SHOWING ANY COVID-19 SYMPTOMS.
ABOUT TINDERBOX
Bournemouth based Tinderbox are an award-winning acoustic duo featuring the ?honey-like? vocals of Monique Houraghan and the amazing intricate finger guitar technique of Dan Tucker.
With five studio albums and one live album under their belts, Tinderbox have amassed an impressive catalogue of self-penned music. Inspired by artists as diverse as James Taylor, Jackson Browne and Counting Crows, their songs explore a myriad of poignant themes that range from war and the environment to lost friendship, global travel and (of course) love. Their most recent album 2017?s All Grown Up was runners-up in FolkWords Best Albums of 2017 Awards.
BBC 6 Music?s Tom Robinson has described Tinderbox?s music as ?Gorgeous?. R2 Magazine?s Dai Jeffries branded the music ?Outstanding ? refreshingly natural? and FolkWords columnist Tim Carroll commended the ?? highly accomplished musicianship; with a deliciously pure voice and a lush embroidery of strings?. Acoustic Magazine labels their music ?Lovely, hooky and mellow.? R2 magazine suggests their tunes ?Stick in the memory from the start.?
?Seeing this band live will be an experience which remains long in the memory.? Maverick Magazine
After meeting in North Yorkshire in 1997, Monique enticed Dan to return to her hometown of Dublin where they worked on writing and performing new material for the next four years. They then travelled the world for two years taking their sweet and mellow sound to countries such as America, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, Hong Kong, and Thailand.
Since settling in Bournemouth in 2004, Tinderbox have performed countless headline shows to capacity crowds. Additionally, they have opened for many international acts including: Joan Armatrading, 10cc, Hazel O?Connor, Cara Dillon, Ralph McTell and Squeeze?s Chris Difford as well as appearing at a host of Folk Festivals right across the UK. In May 2010, after returning from a successful tour of the USA they went on to win an award for ?The Best European Group? in Caceres, Spain.
In recent years Tinderbox?s music has featured in numerous television and film projects including ?Aisling?s Diary? (RTE1, Ireland), ?Dr G Medical Examiner? (Discovery Channel, USA), ?Trinity? (Channel 5 Entertainment, USA) and independent US feature film ?The Bilbee Boys? to name a few.
