We are delighted to have tempted Ceitidh Mac back to our fair city for an early Saturday evening set at Claypath Deli.

As those who attended Ceitidh's 2019 sold-out show at the Deli or who managed to catch her at DJazz will know there is a heavy folk influence prominent in her songs. That said, Ceitidh Mac intensifies the allure of her music by dipping into various genres. In her single Bus Station, for example, there are aspects of minimalist poetry with touches of jazz and drum'n'bass. However, despite these adventurous sound detours, she remains a folky at heart.

There's something special going on when Ceitidh Mac draws back the bow on her cello and opens her mouth to sing, the playing and the vocal dovetailing perfectly to create a rare kind of magic- The Crack

The music carried by distinct lyrics, cello melodies and synth hooks creates a mesmerising live atmosphere...gave me goose-bumps as Mac delicately created beautiful soundscapes through the cello' - NARC magazine

Ceitidh Mac blends the warming tones of the cello with mellow vocals to create a transformative sound that puts a progressive twist on the alt. folk genre' - Sage Gateshead

Sharing the bill with Ceitidh is GeorgeBoomsma whose guitar style could be described as soft and sparing, allowing his thoughtful songs to breathe and giving them a timeless intimacy. Like his major influence Nick Drake, George has the skill of making complex and clever songwriting sound blissfully simple, making every line feel like a fresh utterance from the ether, captivating the audience as they wait for the next sumptuous note.

In 2018 George played alongside respected musicians Neill MacColl and Kathryn Williams at Northern Sky (A celebration of Nick Drake), he has opened for The Travelling Band and Martha Tilston and his music has been played on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 Music and he performed on the BBC Introducing stage at the 2016 Latitude Festival.

'Heartfelt writing, heart-stopping vocals and a perfectly poised performance'. - Tom Robinson, BBC Radio 6 Music

'Songs of exquisite beauty, with a voice that could melt ice caps...gorgeous stuff' - Bob Fischer, BBC Tees

'Boomsma completely wowed The Cluny when he stepped forward, took a deep breath and performed a version of Drake's 'Place To Be' that had Kathryn Williams looking on, wonder written all over her face'. - The Crack
