The incredible Mishra are in Rudry Parish Hall as part of the 'Off The Beaten Track' festival season! With support from the wonderful Rob Lear, you definitely don't want to miss this!! Initial ticket sales are dictated by Welsh Gov COVID regs, meaning the first batch of tickets is limited to 30.
Mishra are a global folk outfit gathering momentum on the UK scene. Their tight web of intricate, Indian-influenced original music defies definition and is already bringing them awards recognition since their formation in 2017. Led by Kate Griffin?s voice and inimitable clawhammer banjo and driven by Ford Collier?s continent-hopping instrumental skills (Indian tabla, African calabash, Irish whistle and guitar), they won Cambridge Folk Festival?s first ever Christian Raphael prize and in separate projects were both shortlisted for the 2018 BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards.
?It is a powerful and heady cocktail, bringing together the flavours and ingredients of four different continents, and producing a sumptuous feast for the ears?? David Auckland, Folk Radio UK
Rob?s first solo E.P., ?A Million Stars? saw the title track becoming a BBC Single of the Week, with the follow up second single ?Little Acorns? also gaining the same status. This success attracted his unique band of supporting musicians, adding cello, djembe, accordion, bass and guitar to Rob?s live line up, so forming the Rob Lear Band. His full debut album, titled ?Let it go?, was mixed and co-produced by Richard Thomson?s Grammy-nominated producer Simon Tassano with a line-up including Van Morrison bassist Pete Hurley. The success of the album led to major festival appearances and touring in both the UK and Europe. The second Album, ?Motorcycle Heart?, once again co-produced in Texas by Tassano, blends 12 tracks that bridge Americana, Folk, Country and even a dash of radio-friendly pop. With the release of the third Album due this year, you can expect new music and exciting times ahead for Rob and his fellow musicians.
