"You?ll be hard pushed to find a better example of British Americana." (Americana-uk.com 2019)
Americana, Country and Acoustic roots built on the craft of songwriting, propelled by a stomping four-piece, band. Jamie Fildes - who has penned a UK Country Album of the Year, and had his songs covered by Texan and Norwegian artists, and Stuart Warburton - critically acclaimed songwriter ' A bona-fide, lived-in talent' ( San Antonio Star ), contributor to Mercury Award winning album, are both writers dedicated to the art of the song.
Compadres of long-standing, they have appeared on stages across the UK and Europe and recorded together on the 'Telemark' album, which was written and recorded in Norway, and received excellent reviews.
Expect all original songs, covering genres from bluegrass to country soul; hillbilly to rocking Americana, covering topics as diverse as existentialism, experiences living in Texas, feminism, fate and fortune - delivered with a wry sense of humour.
Unspoilt pub where the central bar and games area draw a good mix of old and young.
We are open every day (apart from Monday, sorry!). We are a traditional pub which sits across from Greenfield Railway Station. We are the only local pub to offer L I V E music every Thursday, Friday and Sunday (correct us if we are wrong). We are infamous for our live music and local ales. Our pub is quite unique, in that it is one of the original stops on the Transpennine Ale Trail. We have a beer garden out the front, which boasts stunning views of the Saddleworth hills.
The tap room has a log fire and old photos of Saddleworth. The Railway is a popular venue for all styles of live music on Thursday, Friday (unpugged night - all players welcome) and Sunday.
In a picturesque area, the pub affords beautiful views across Chew Valley from the upgraded beer garden and is a great base for outdoor pursuits.
