After a resounding success with the first two events we are now planning a new event for 2021! Come one come all to east London and learn how to Texas Two-Step just like they do in the honky tonks and bars in Austin TX! NOTE: we are hopeful dancing will be permitted by August and are monitoring the situation closely.

On this very special night, Hank Jd Sleek brings you a little slice of the Lone Star State with a fun and relaxed workshop in the famed country music partner dance -- the Texas Two-Step. Originally a development from the social foxtrot in the 1940s, the Texas Two-Step found popularity with the folks in the southern States when combined with the new harder edged honky tonk sounds coming out of the bars and country roadhouses of the late 1940s and early 50s. Still very much danced today by all ages in dance halls, clubs and bars, The Texas Two Step is a fantastic way to have fun, socialise and dance to crackin' country & western music.
Hank (Texas Two-Step teacher and Americana DJ ? Black Deer Festival, Red Rooster Festival, Maverick Festival and others) will lead you in a fun and informative workshop suitable for complete beginners or experienced dancers. The workshop will last around 3 hours with several breaks for tea and coffee, etc. No partner necessary (we rotate partners) and no special clothes, shoes, boots or hats required (but Crispy Cowboy says it feels SO good if you want to try it!). Just bring an appetite for fun!
City Cowgirl and Crispy Cowboyy are on hand as hostess/host and the vibe at Walthamstow Trades Halll is PURE vintage. Following the workshop, east London's purveyors of honkytonk, East Lonesome Drifters will play two sets of live music for your dancing pleasure. PLUS DJ sets to dance to. Doors at 3pm, instruction from 330-630pm, a break for dinner and live music starts at 7pm for a 10pm finish. What are you waiting for? Tickets are limited and cost £25 per person in advance for 3 hours of instruction and over 2 hours of live music! £5 on the door after 7pm for DJ and band sets only. So much fun in store!
