At these informal sessions, a whole collection of string quartets, and a few other things, are laid out in front of the audience and the musicans. David Yang will present them, and the audience will vote for what they want to hear. The musicians will then sight-read the pieces ? no rehearsal! For musicians of this calibre, this isn't a problem ? we'll hear great performances, though perhaps with a little more spontaneity than happens after hours of working on some music in rehearsal. There's no chance for discussion ? they just have to play, and pick up on each others intentions through body language and their ears.

This beautiful setting, nestled among the Dartmoor fields includes gardens, fields, barns, an art gallery and outdoor beds made from fallen eucalyptus trees. It?s a magical place, turn right just after Widecombe Primary school. Come from 6pm and bring a picnic. Bar and Ice cream available.
