Description
Music - Jazz/latin
Born and partly raised in Uganda, Mark Kavuma is a prominent young Trumpet player on the British jazz scene. In addition to leading his own outstanding band ?The Banger Factory', Kavuma has featured as a guest soloist alongside Wynton Marsalis and his Jazz at Lincoln centre orchestra, as well as touring extensively with the legendary Malian singer-songwriter Salif Keita. Kavuma?s voice is anchored firmly in the African American hard-bop tradition whilst simultaneously being unflinchingly contemporary.

praise for ?The Banger Factory?:
?At a time when too many new and young bands strive too hard for effect, Kavuma?s Banger Factory stands out for its consummate control and mature restraint, producing here a strong statement that exudes style and panache. This band deserves all the praise that is currently coming its way.? ? Jazz Journal
praise for debut album ?Kavuma?:
?This is one of the best debuts I?ve heard in a long, long time. It?s full of joy, soul and swagger.? ? Downbeat
We hugely look forward to welcoming you back to our beautiful listening room upstairs at The Oxford Tavern, and in order to do so safely, we will be implementing the following changes to our system to make the club as Covid-safe as we can:
? To begin with we will be operating at a reduced capacity, with 15 tickets available in advance (via our website), and 15 available on the door. We strongly recommend booking in advance to guarantee entry.
? We ask that you wear a mask when moving around the room, and use the hand sanitizer provided upon entry.
? There will be no standing at gigs, everyone who has a ticket will be allocated a seat.
? We ask that you sign in downstairs at the pub for the NHS Test and Trace using the NHS Covid app (or, manually if you do not have a smartphone).
