We are opening up hosting a special concert with three musicians with Yorkshire links.
Becky Taylor the' Yorkshire Piper' pays a return visit to Wadsworth, again with guitarist Steve Lacey. Becky is one of the most respected Uilleann pipers of her generation, as well as being an accomplished Northumbrian Smallpiper and Multi-Instrumentalist. In demand as a performer, session musician and teacher, her unique sound, broad repertoire and all-round musical versatility ensure she is renowned both on the folk scene and beyond.
Sarah Smout is a renowned cellist and vocalist has toured internationally with acts including Michael Chapman, Bridget St. John, King Creosote, etc. Her session work has also appeared on dozens of critically acclaimed albums in the folk, acoustic, and singer-songwriter scenes. Her songs with cello are original, beautifully crafted and touching, spinning poetry-driven lyrics inspired by landscape and sea, and exploring themes like home, land, love and climate change. In 2017, her song ?Arctic Ground? was used by Greenpeace for a Save the Arctic campaign video, which depicts the tremendous efforts of protestors and native tribes against oil drilling.
Sarah is about to begin touring her most recent show 'Eyjar.'
Iona Lane, recent graduate from Leeds College of Music, is a folk singer and musician, whose well-crafted songs are delivered with immense passion, and an understanding beyond her years for the stories she tells. Having found herself fascinated by discovering untold folk stories from rural parts of the UK, where natural environment, landscape, sustainability and community are integral to people?s way of life, Iona has honed her songwriting to create something really special. Iona has just recorded her debut album.
Each artist will perform an individual set with or without an accompanist. Therefore there will be two shortish intervals during the concert
