Event Type
Genre :
Description
Other
A walk covering many of the sites covered on www.derelictlondon.com and in the new edition of author Paul Talling's Derelict London book including parts of the Royal London Hospital, a dilapidated Whitechapel drinking fountain & the abandoned former Shoreditch Underground Station.
In addition to more random dereliction there will be some stories of the Krays, Jack the Ripper and plenty of tangents including the KLF, Suzi Quattro, Cock Sparrer, The Libertines, Minder, old railway arches, flytipping, rats & a few wrecked cars. In addition to this we shall be touching on the Black Ditch, one of London's Lost Rivers and tracing the social history of over a dozen lost pubs along the walk including the Seven Stars in Brick Lane featured in the very first edition of Derelict London.
Duration of walk: Approx 4 to 4 1/2 hours
The finishes nearby Whitechapel Station, where there will be plenty of opportunity to have a drink with Paul in a local pub (subject to Government restrictions)
Dogs are welcome. By purchasing a ticket for a walk, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:
* Although public liability insurance is held the organiser shall not be held responsible for accidents, injury, loss or damage to persons or property as a consequence of participation in Paul Talling's walks.
