Barking Tales / Ucb Opening Night - Pope Lonergan, Faye Treacy Event Title Pic

Description

Comedy
Barking Tales (the mental health comedy night) is back at a new venue, which is ours. The show will start at 8:00pm but we'll be there from 6:00pm for you to arrive when you want. Plenty of time for all to catch-up / meet for the first time. No big rush to leave, either, and we'll remind you of the time of the last tram.
It's a small space though, so if we could have as clear an idea as possible of who is coming, that'd be greatly appreciated. Send us a message if possible, so we can set the chairs up.

Masks will be encouraged when moving around, and would have thought it went without saying but if you've got ANY COVID symptoms then please keep yourself at home. I think everyone was very good at not being all up in other people's space anyway, so continue to practice that too.

We have our own car park, right outside the entrance! ?
If anyone is nervous of navigating the walking route from Derker tram station for their first try, let us know and we'll arrange to come meet you. We'll add some route maps, too.

August 4th we have -

*A very lovely surprise

*Faye Treacy is a comedian, presenter and musician.

Born in Croydon, South London, Faye had a relatively normal childhood till she was sent to the local Convent. Five years later upon getting kicked out of her Convent school (for putting the Convent on Ebay), she packed her bags and went to the Brit School of Performing Arts. Realising she never wanted to be a Pop Star she went onto to study trombone at the Royal Academy of Music.

Her musical career highlights include having been the resident trombonist for the Chris Moyle?s Quiz Night on Channel 4, as well as playing for The Selector, Kiko Bun, The Maccabees, Rod Stewart, Tankus The Henge, PRO Glenn Millar Big Band, Hackney Colliery Brass Band, Riot Jazz and The London Vegetable Orchestra.

Always being a keen fan of John Cage, she always wanted to try comedy, so after being forced on stage by a comedian housemate she decided to give it a go and went on to win 'Best Newcomer' at the Musical Comedy Awards in 2015. Since then her comedy career has rocketed, seeing her perform internationally at venues including: The Frog and Bucket, XS MALARKEY, The Stand, Top Secret, 99 Club, The Glee Club, Angel Comedy Club, Utrecht International Comedy Festival, Edinburgh Fringe and Leicester Comedy Festival.

In 2018 she took her debut hour "The Problem with Faye Treacy" at the Edinburgh Fringe to rave reviews, with one of her jokes listed as a top Joke of the fringe in the Evening Standard, The Mirror and The Daily Record.
2019 saw Faye join Bauer?s new classical music station, Scala Radio where she presents the weekend evening slots.

*Harriet Dyer (resident MC)
Comedian and author of, 'Bipolar Comedian.'
?She?s insightful, unique, peerless, extraordinary and? well, maybe a little unhinged.? 4 Extra Stands Up, BBC Radio 4 Extra
It's free entry, donations after if you can afford it (everything made goes back into the night / UCB.)

There will be a well stocked tuck shop with plenty of snacks and drinks, including tea and coffee.
If you want to drink booze bring your own. This is a safe space though, so if you're a drunken nightmare you will be asked to leave.

Details on membership (if you fancy being a member of the UCB) will be available ASAP. Any questions, get in touch. Thanks so much.

P.S. We'd like to compile a playlist with songs/ music type that people would like to be playing upon entry (quietly), so get in touch with any songs that you'd like to be on that.

This space is wheelchair accessible, too! Ground floor access, right off the car park. Wheelchair cubicles in ladies and gents
