Jakes (Hannah Jacobs) is a musician, producer and director at Upcycled Sounds, Oxford. On Wednesday 18th August, we?re able to open up 15 free spaces to join Jakes for a talk about her music production process and journey from her studio in Cowley.

Her innovative music at the boundaries of pop, sound-art, jazz and classical has been featured by Gramophone, Songlines, Spotify, Apple Music, BBC Radio 2, 3 and 6 and premiered at the Ashmolean Proms. She?s had commissions funded by Lucas Studios, Jazz South, Orchestra of St John?s, Audiograft Festival, Oxford Contemporary Music and Arts Council England. Mostly she?s busy fronting psych-pop / sound-art duo pecq, composing experimental electro-classical work and producing records for bands.

This is the second in a mini series of free online events we?re running, inviting talented musicians to showcase how they make their music in celebration of the second run of our music production course. With equipment donated by Focusrite, and software from Ableton, we've been able to work with young women and non binary people throughout lockdown, to develop skills in producing music from home.

This event is open to all, regardless of gender, though it will foreground the experiences of young women and non binary people. Tickets are free of charge!
