We're back! After more than a year of not being able to hold fundraising concerts, the National Jazz Archive is excited to welcome the Darius Brubeck Quartet to our local venue of Loughton Methodist Church.
The quartet will be celebrating the music of Dave Brubeck and includes Dave Brubeck's son Darius on piano, Dave O'Higgins on saxophone, Matt Ridley on bass and Wesley Gibbens on drums.
Darius Brubeck is an American jazz pianist, composer, author and retired university professor. Son of jazz legend Dave Brubeck, he leads the Darius Brubeck Quartet and tours annually with his brothers Chris and Dan in the band 'Brubecks Play Brubeck'.
Dave O'Higgins is a British saxophonist, arranger, bandleader, educator and recording producer. A player of soprano and tenor saxophone, Dave received a nomination as 'Best Tenor Sax Player' in the 2018 British Jazz Awards.
Matt Ridley learned the piano before moving across to bass guitar as a teenager. A graduate of Trinity College London, British-born Matt is also an educator and band-leader.
Wesley Gibbens moved to London from South Africa in 2005 and has played drums with the Darius Brubeck quartet since its inception. He is a drum teacher at the North London Music Academy and has studied Brazilian and African music under Barak Schmool as part of the F-ire collective.
The event will be held in accordance with Government Covid guidance and regulations that apply at the time.
