This London walking tour will take us to some of the more traditionally famous sights of London including, Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, 10 Downing Street and, the Palace of Westminster otherwise known as parliament and Big Ben

You?ll hear stories about each of these places and walk down Whitehall, which was once the seat of power for the greatest empire the world has ever known.

There will be stories about a dodgy scrap merchant, the execution of a king, one of America?s founding fathers, and some surprising facts about Trafalgar Square including Britain?s smallest Police Station.

We?ll also visit Horse Guards Parade and see a couple of unlikely places that were used as air-raid shelters in World War 2 and the house that links Winston Churchill and Richard Nixon as well one where Marilyn Monroe stayed for the night.

All this plus stories of a church designed like a footstool thanks to a tantrum by a queen and hear why a skull was placed on top of the houses of parliament for over 20 years and we?ll walk through what used to be a place of execution.

There are other stories along the way and obviously chances to take photos of some of London?s most iconic sights.

We?ll start at Embankment station and finish one stop further down the line at Westminster tube station.

In light of the covid legacy, please feel free to wear a mask if it makes you more comfortable but we will be outside at all times if that helps. I would ask participants to be mindful of other people's personal preferences on this matter.

Tours depart from Embankment tube station at 10:30 am and take approx 2 - 2.5 hours.

So come plodwithme on this journey and by the end, you?ll have some stories to share about the more unusual aspects of British history.
