Description

SARAH GILFORD
British soprano Sarah Gilford, a Scholarship Holder of the Imogen Cooper Music Trust since 2019, is currently a member of the Opernstudio at the Bayerische Staatsoper. In the 2020/21 season, her appearances included Giannetta in L?Elisir d?Amore, Taumännchen in Hänsel und Gretel, and Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro. In September, Sarah sang the title role in the Opernstudio?s production of Thomas's Mignon at the Cuvilliés Theatre. Aside from her presence in Munich, Sarah recently won the Welsh Singers Showcase 2021. As a result she had the privilege of representing her home country of Wales in the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition in June 2021 where she became a finalist. In the 2021/22 season Sarah will be joining Stadttheater Klagenfurt?s permanent ensemble, where she will sing the part of Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro and Gilda in Rigoletto, among other roles. In future, Sarah will make her debut with Il Pomo d?Oro.

Bayerische Staatsoper 2020: "Gilford tirelessly executed the stage business Bösch gave her [as Giannetta in L'Elisir d'Amore]. Even from such a small role, one became aware of an attractive, crystalline soprano ? perhaps a future Adina in the making." Opera Traveller

?There are so many fabulous voices, but the ones that can make you cry are actually quite rare . . .? Felicity Lott, Imogen Cooper Masterclass, 2019
