Description

Alongshore is a new concept in sound and vision. It is a soundscape of lives lived on the coast past, present and future. Traditional and original songs, archive material and field recordings blend to create a record of coastal communities that is touching, at times funny, always evocative.

Alongshore tell the stories and sing the songs of those who live alongside the sea, and make their living from inshore waters, and to hear from them in their own words. Archive and new recordings of people, speaking about their lives, and field recordings help to create an immersive experience. Our focus is Poole and the surrounding Dorset coastline, but the stories are those of all coastal folk and have universal appeal. There are stories familiar, stories forgotten and stories unknown, stories re-told and tall tales sprouted from a seed of truth that have grown in the telling. And always there is music.

Alongshore are Vic Baines (Vocals, Mountain Dulcimer, Oral History, Field Recording) and Ledger de la Bald: (Poetry, Storytelling).

COVID footnote: Please do not attend if you show any symptoms of infection (a full refund of the ticket price will be made if the folk club is contacted in advance of the concert).
