CoCu draws upon the mutual love of music heritage and culture that is shared by Swedish and English musicians Moa Papillon and Daisy Beau.
Both singers, songwriters and instrumentalists in their own right, CoCu sees these two incredible creatives reimagine the original and traditional songs of their extensive musical collections.
Moa Papillon is a singer and instrumentalist playing West African kora, mandolin, bansitar and guitar, and is a graduate of Ethnomusicology
from SOAS University of London. She has toured all over Europe with her band Yassassin, and plays in The Flotsam Orchestra, a world music ensemble, and solo as Moa Papillon. At the moment, she is doing a Masters in Applied Anthropology and Community Arts at
Goldsmiths University, and runs Flotsam Sessions, a London-based project connecting people through music, and Ethno England, an international music exchange bringing together folk musicians every summer. Moa?s musical repertoire speaks of her many journeys
around the world, from her native Sweden, to Senegal... and numerous places in-between.
Daisy Beau is a professionally trained vocalist, songwriter and musician, playing melodica, guitar, guitalele, piano and bessibina (an instrument
she designed). Her musical background comes mainly from growing up around fishermen and punks, with a vast education in fireside performance and collaborative improvisation, punctuated later in life by a Popular Music degree from Goldsmiths University. Born
in central London, Daisy is well known in the UK for her years of musical service in the underground and festival scenes, singing old time jazz (The Smokey Taps), traditional folk, and working behind the scenes with high profile bands and artists as a vocal
coach, creative mentor and producer. As a solo artist Daisy makes her own records and is a passionate advocate of DIY culture, lo-fi prolificacy and asking forgiveness over permission.
