Eight Rounds Rapid?s songs are rooted in trad blues, but guitar from Simon Johnson and singer David Alexander?s acerbic delivery make the act sound like John Cooper Clarke and Mark E Smith jamming in a Southend bus depot, with their gritty tales of the Essex underworld.
The group gained a national audience last year when they supported Wilko Johnson on his UK Farewell Tour, winning over BBC DJs, Artrocker magazine and a clutch of bloggers with their polarising performances at Camden?s Koko.

Marked as "ones to watch" by Modern Age Music, and "Future Artists" by Radio 1?s Jack Saunders, the serpents have already performed to sold out crowds across the UK.

We’ve kept the name and the spirit but everything else is new.

Our big stage is now at the back of the room so all in the venue can see what’s happening. There's a totally new interior with state-of-the-art sound and lighting, new solid hardwood dancefloor.

Since reopening at the end of 2014 we have hosted Wolf Alice, Kaiser Chiefs, Slaves, Fat White Family, At The Drive-In, Mac DeMarco, The Kooks, The Amazons, Wretch 32, Declan McKenna, DMAs, Tom Grennan, We Are Scientists, The Wombats, Sundara Karma, The Enemy, The Rifles, Electric Six, Hackney Colliery Band and literally thousands more bands.
