For those of you who follow the ?World? Music scene in the UK, Justin Thurgur will be a familiar face; through his long term collaborations with both the Afrobeat Maestro Dele Sosimi and with Kishon Khan, plus working with the likes of Afrobeat drum legend Tony Allen and Cuban giants Julito Padron and Giraldo Piloto, he has cemented a place at the forefront of that community.
His own project has taken this experience and combined it with his love of the likes of Miles Davis, Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Coltrane, et al?. to create a powerful ?Global? Jazz project.
This gig showcases his new album ?Many Faces?, releasing in November. The album features established members of Thurgur?s group, including the mighty trumpeter Graeme Flowers and the ever-inventive Kishon Khan on piano, Rhodes and Hammond, plus collaborations with young rising singing stars Sahra Gure and Jade Pybus and two tracks of Afrobeat-infused Soul Jazz co-written with Dele Sosimi, who will be guesting with the group on this gig.
