Description

Pleased to invite AILIE ORMSTON & TIM FRASER to London in anticipation of their forthcoming LP on bison - "It Changes", with support from their friends Still House Plants.

'It Changes' incorporates samples of collaborative session material, automated MIDI instrumentation and adhoc field recordings. Parts of the album were first presented in 2019 as a larger audio-visual work which debuted at the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow as part of Counterflows festival. The duo then finished the recordings during the first lockdown by using their phones and running a 7.5m headphone cable between their neighbouring flats.

The album?s title 'It Changes' is taken from a Sherman Brothers song of the same name, written for the animated film Snoopy Come Home. It mirrors themes of alienation and attachment associated with Peanuts characters, and looks at modern individualist and consumerist ideas of desire and liberation. The 1992 UK Clubland anthem Only Love Can Set You Free by N-Trance is a central motif, bringing to the fore the last three decades of neoliberal policies and affected culture. References to the decline in the welfare state and increased surveillance are contrasted with sincere messages of love and resistance.

?Ailie Ormston released their album with Finlay Clark, Sunflowers Face The Sun on 33/33 in 2020, as well as a solo double EP, The Sedate/Tony Soprano Fashion Inspo in 2018. Tim Fraser has a forthcoming solo release due in 2022.

STILL HOUSE PLANTS are a uk group made up of jess hickie-kallenbach, finlay clark, and david kennedy.

From a bare bones set up of guitar, drums and vocals they create fractious and sharp music with a melting pop heart. Bridging elements of sampling, slow core, and repetition the trio have developed a sound that constantly breaks apart and fuses together again.

Their second lp, fast edit, released on blank forms and bison, was written aided by mobile phones, dictaphones, laptop recordings, conversations, and live shows, blending fidelities and aural spaces. Things sit on top of each other, fall over one another, or click into place, with hearts on sleeves and spirits in motion.

The group are currently working on their third studio album.
