"One of the best little venues in London" Evening Standard
The Line up
Vernons Future are an indie band from Oxford and London with their own distinctive twist on the poppier end of the indie spectrum.
VF were born as The Vernons in Liverpool back in the 80?s and played hundreds of gigs leading up to the release of album Smithdown Road on Probe Plus at the start of 1990.
After an almost imperceptible pause of around 25 years(!), with band members having spread across the world, VF were rebooted. Simon the singer had moved back to the UK and linked up again with Andy, Jon and Tom (guitar, keys and drums - all based in north London now) and Hoop (Simon H) on bass.
Indie survivors indeed
The Young Flood
The Young Flood is an alt-rock brother/ sister duo from the Isle of Wight and now based in London.
We?re The Young Flood. Actually we?re Harriet & John and have known each other since Harriet was 2 days old. We?ve avoided being in a band together for 24 years but finally gave way to the inevitable in 2018. Harriet plays the drums. John plays guitar. We make a surprising amount of noise for two people, some of it in a good way. Our gigs usually go pretty well for the first 25 mins.
"It's brilliant to see a young proper band playing proper music with such energy and enthusiasm!"
Power-pop/rock trio The Mocktales play homage to what has gone before with a blistering set from 50's R&B and rock 'n' roll all the way through to Mod, Punk, Britpop and Indie. They carry the torch with their own material influenced by those who have left a mark on modern rock history.
The Mocktales never fail to pull a crowd when they busk London streets and this is sure to be another energetic venue performance guaranteed to get you moving and wanting more.
The Spice of Life is an over 18?s venue .ID will be required if you are asked.
A pub and music bar on the perimeter of Cambridge Circus, at the corner of Romilly Street and Moor Street. Famous in the 1960s and 70s for folk music and then punk, latterly it has become a jazz venue and home to SpiceJazz club. Up to 5 real ales from the McMullen range on offer and free admission to the main bar but you may have to pay for some music gigs in the basement.
