Eve works long and unsociable hours as a chambermaid at the upmarket Hotel Presidente in Mexico City. She rarely sees her small child, snatching brief phone calls with a child-minder during breaks. Maybe hard-working Eve will be promoted to one of the higher floors, or perhaps be given a desirable article of lost property. She functions in a separate world from the hotel guests most of whom treat her as invisible.
