Athough he was born in California, Ignas was raised in Lithuania where the Maknickas family ensemble regularly appeared on TV and at charity events in aid of the disadvantaged. In 2017, having graduated from the National M.K. Ciurlionis School of Art in Vilnius, Ignas entered the Royal Academy of Music (RAM) in London. In 2021 he received The Queen?s Commendation for Excellence as the highest scoring graduate at the RAM. He is now on the post-graduate RAM Master of Arts Programme with Professor Joanna MacGregor. Ignas became an Imogen Cooper Music Trust scholarship holder in 2020. He is already a prizewinner in Europe and the USA and has given solo recitals in London, Vilnius, at Kinross House in Scotland, and the Charlottenborg Festival Hall in Copenhagen, as well as performances with chamber ensembles and orchestras.
