Currently directed by Emily Elias, The Marbecke Choir (based at Southwark Cathedral) has put together an inimate performance especially for celebrating Christmas on our beautiful ship, The Golden Hinde.
Come aboard to enjoy the perfect marriage of music, venue (and mince pies!) in ritual Christmas nostalgia and practice. A perfect way to spend an early wintery evening - a moments reflection and cheer slotted between your Christmas day time shopping and your Sunday night at home by the fire.
The programme is in two parts - the first consisting of polyphony known to date from around the time of the circumnavigation; the second consisting of carols from across England which would have been known in some form at the time, also, including known favourites such as Good King Wenceslas and Coventry Carol.
The choir have performed for HRH Princess Alexandra, the Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, and contributed to Her Majesty, the Queen?s, Christmas Broadcast recorded at Southwark Cathedral in 2006. Next, they will be performing to you this Christmas 2021!
Doors and bar open at 16:30 for the concert, music at 17:00.
Price £15 / £16 on the door.
