Songwriter. Guitarist. Bluesman. Interpreter. Worldwide touring
musician. For over 50 years.
Chris Smither is an American original. It?s his effortless, rippling guitar (?one-third John Hurt, one-third Lightnin? Hopkins and one-third me?) that is distinctively Smither and his particular genius to reimagine the acoustic blues as a vehicle for rich, philosophically complex lyrics. His songs offer a commentary on the human condition that only Chris Smither can put pen to. These songs pull from deep in the soul that makes for a kind of reflection, a timeless introspection.
His shows here have always been amazing. It?s a real honour to have him back after so many years.
Opening the show is songwriter and multi-instrumentalist & beer drinker Zak Trojano. He has evolved into his own thing: A warm baritone paired with an old Martin & finger-style guitar, with a deceptively simple lyrics that on repeated listening show that the fellow at the end of the bar doesn?t say much, but he?s well worth hearing.
