An event at Folk at the Grove. We are very excited to welcome one of the leading lights in the world of folk, Jez Lowe. He has a long and distinguished career that continues to deliver hard hitting and heartfelt social commentary on the economic and structural inequalities in society.
Jez grew up witnessing the decline of the coal-mining industry that had defined the region's economy for generations. A great many songs address the economic distress that the area suffered as a result of industrial decline and the social repercussions.
Jez has had and continues to have a number of exciting collaborations with many in folk including his own long-established band The Bad Pennies, as well as, The Pitmen Poets, Men at Words and with fellow-songwriter Steve Tilston. He has also been involved in the award-winning BBC series The Radio Ballads. He has a new solo album, Crazy Pagan.
