Description

From the team behind the Toy Museum Folk Club comes the brand new Brighton & Hove Folk Club! Set in the beautiful Folklore Rooms at the very centre of town, the gigs will feature some of the best contemporary and trad folk musicians from around the world.

Our first event sees the critically acclaimed Gwenifer Raymond offering up a set of her inimitable clawhammer guitar. One of the most exciting figures in folk today, Raymond is your classic game-designing astrophysicist guitar and banjo icon in the making. Her live shows are renowned for their 'roiling fury' that is 'transporting, beautiful, intimate and intense'. Don't miss a chance to catch this bright light of the American primitive style.

Support comes from Buck Curran. Formerly of Arborea, Curran released his third solo album during the first lockdown in his adopted home of Italy - but that didn't stop Pitchfork seeking him out, or NPR inviting his to do one of their prestigious Tiny Desk Concerts (albeit remotely). An unparalleled singer-songwriter described by Folk Radio UK as 'mesmerising', this is a rare chance to catch Curran in Brighton.

We currently expect award-winning illustrator and political cartoonist Chris Riddell to be joining us for this gig too, drawing live to accompany the artists as they perform!
