terrace cred. presents:
OK - another change of plan, forced upon us by circumstances. Regretfully, Peter Case is advised not to travel from California, so, we're having to put the long-awaited double header tour to one side.
Please read the statement from Peter below. We trust you'll all understand and I'm sending him the bestest vibes from all of us here.
But... we're still hosting longtime friend of The Greys, Sid Griffin, back in this great, little, intimate space of The Greys (after a number of f'in'covi-rejiggles). Plus, we've roped in Brighton based outfit The Seagrass Band to give us a twang.
Sid Griffin is a true pioneer, - a singer, songwriter, author, historian, broadcaster and producer, credited with helping invent a whole genre with his 'Garage / Alt-Country / Paisley Underground / Indie '* band The Long Ryders. In 1984 their album ?Native Sons? reached number 1 on the UK Indie Charts and number 4 in the US. The Long Ryders were recently were 'thrilled to the gills' to receive the AMAUK International Trailblazer Award 2022, recognising their significance over 40 years.
Sid wrote the Long Ryders hit single ?Looking for Lewis & Clark? and co-wrote ?Everywhere?, covered by Billy Bragg. His production credits include Lindisfarne?s 1998 album ?Here Comes the Neighbourhood?. He wrote acclaimed Bob Dylan book ?Million Dollar Bash? and penned the liner notes for the box set of the Basement Tapes. Sid was resident musicologist on BB6 Music?s Radcliffe & Maconie show.
Sid has released four solo albums, the latest ?The Trick is to Breathe? was Uncut magazine?s Album of the Month, which described it as ?a high-water mark in a career which has always celebrated traditional American music with boundless eloquence and enthusiasm?.
?His intimate acoustic shows are consistently memorable? The Sunday Times
'Sid Griffin was playing Americana years before the term was invented and that pioneer spirit shines on?'
- Billy Bragg
'A roots music Renaissance man?'
- Whispering Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2
To open the show, shit-kicking bluegrass from Brighton five-piece THE SEAGRASS BAND, formed by Coal Porters? double-bassist Andrew Stafford.
Includes ex-members of the Blue Aeroplanes, Jazz Butcher, and the Guy Chadwick [House of Love] Band.
Featuring Nashville session player Paul Bishop, described by Mojo magazine as the Eddie Van-Halen of the banjo, whose music has been used on Heartbeat, Gene Simmons? Family Jewels, West Wing, the Drew Carey Show and Beverly Hills 90210.
The Seagrass Band will join Sid Griffin at the end of his set for some rabble-rousing renditions of Coal Porters? and Long Ryders? numbers.
You'll know that The Greys has hosted numerous blinding performances by Sid Griffin - a very favourite performer, this time, yet different again and very welcome.
Can't wait...

Due to the uncertainty during this stage of the pandemic and in consideration of his health and that of others, Peter has been advised to postpone travel and indoor performances until further notice.
He continues to compose and record music, and is preparing an album of new songs to be released this fall. An archival vinyl release of his Grammy-nominated LP 'Let Us Now Praise Sleepy John' is also in the pipeline.
Peter would like to thank his friends and fans for bearing with him through this disruption.
"I know it's not easy sometimes."
