Event Type

Genre : Music - General

Description

The debut performance of an exquisite set of instrumental pieces composed by Louisa Lyne Patterson of Oxford-based cinematic Arabic jazz band, Brickwork Lizards. Scored for violin, viola, cello, and piano, Louisa?s music comes from the heart. It weaves together subtly shifting tonalities, Debussy-esque shimmers, nods to Yann Tiersen, and the occasional Arabic inflection to create a glorious and emotive sound-world utterly her own. Some of the pieces were written during the first lockdown, and they reflect wordlessly and beautifully on the themes of love, loss, and longing. The quartet features Jane Griffiths on violin (Owl Light Trio), Vanessa McNaught on viola (Adderbury Ensemble), Louisa on cello, and Ashton Gray (Sparsholt Collective) on piano.
