New Lion Brewery is proud to present a DJ set from the legendary Mr Don Letts.

Don first emerged on to the music scene in the late 70?s as the DJ that single handedly turned a generation of young musicians and fans onto reggae by spinning reggae vinyl at Londons first punk club The Roxy.

Amongst those people listening were members of the Sex Pistols, The Clash and the Slits who in turn added reggae influences to their own work. Don later co-founded the band Big Audio Dynamite with Clash guitarist Mick Jones achieving several hits on both sides of the Atlantic including the top ten single E=Mc2.

At the height of punk in 1977 Don made his first film 'The Punk Rock Movie'. This led to a period directing over 300 music videos for an eclectic mix of diverse artists ranging from Public Image to Bob Marley. He then moved into documentary work covering the likes of The Clash in the Grammy winning ?Westway To The World?, Gil Scot-Heron, The Jam, Sun Ra, George Clinton, and most recently Paul McCartney. Dancehall Queen (co-directed by Rick Elgood) shot on location in Jamaica was his first feature film.

Don continues to D.J nationally and internationally, playing strictly old and new school dub reggae including appearances at Glastonbury, Lovebox, Camp Bestival, Lattitude, The Big Chill as well as regular radio appearances on BBC 6 Music.

Don Letts? reputation has been firmly established in both the music and film world by a substantial body of work from the late 70's through the 80's, 90?s and well into the millennium and we can?t wait to welcome the man and his music to the New Lion Brewery taproom.
