Inspired by Beatle George Harrison?s 1971 legendary ?Concert for Bangladesh? and moved by the plight of Ukraine?s current hour of need, the Dung Beatles are to play a one-off event at St. Mary?s Church in Aylesbury on 12th April 2022 with all proceeds to be donated to the Disaster Emergency Committee?s Ukraine appeal.
Fr. Doug Zimmerman of St. Mary?s commented, ?the church is a great venue for the community to come together in a show of support for this urgent need and we?re working with everyone involved to galvanise financial support over the next couple of weeks?.
Also rallying to the cause and presenting the event is Friars Aylesbury, the town?s legendary music club whose founder David Stopps recently celebrated its 50th anniversary with The Dung Beatles at Aylesbury?s Waterside theatre; he comments, ?this appeal for Ukraine is really important right now - every pound we raise from this will be donated?.
The Beatles? music is synonymous for many with love and peace and the band plan on playing a set reflecting just that; the evening will also include special guests (to be announced) and other activities to make it a unique, one-off event.
