Join the Elysium Orchestra for the second concert at St Pancras New Church in the heart of central London. The orchestra is made up of some of London's young musicians living and studying at conservatoires and universities.
We're delighted to present a programme of contrasting 19th century works. Beethoven's tragic Coriolan Overture was written in 1807 for Henrich Joseph von Collin's 1804 tragedy Coriolan. Wagner's bucolic Siegfried Idyll is filled with horn calls and bird calls that evoke a pastoral, country summer setting. The concert will culminate with Schumann's mighty second symphony - a work that can be seen as a story of triumph over fate, given Schumann's poor health at the time of writing.
The proceeds from this concert will continue our work to set up a music outreach charity, with the aim of getting children into music, both nationally and internationally.
