Conception is a band formed in 2021 with the purpose of performing the original arrangements of ?bebop? repertoire from the 40?s, 50?s and 60?s with composers such as Bud Powell, Tadd Dameron, John Lewis, George Shearing and Dizzy Gillespie forming the main core of sources. Far from being 'museum pieces', instead they show the charm and innovation of this music in its original form.
At this evening's concert, the second set will have as its focus the Tadd Dameron/John Coltrane album ?Mating Call?, perhaps Dameron's finest album.
Conception features some truly accomplished musicians. Adam Bishop (alto sax), Nick Tomalin (piano), Dominic Howles (double bass) and Matt Fishwick (drums).
