The Hard Way: the story of working class suffragette Hannah Mitchell. Born at Alport Castles Farm in 1872, she left home at 14 and walked to Glossop to work as an apprentice seamstress, later moving to Bolton. She educated heself, and became politically active in the Independent Labour Party and the women's suffrage movement. She was elected to Mancheter City Council in 1924 and became a magistrate in 1926.
The Hard Way is a one-woman show of storytelling with song based on Hannah?s real life story.
