Amelia Coburn

Event Type

Genre : Music - Folk/blues/world

Description

Since being nominated for the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards, Middlesbrough?s Amelia Coburn has been busy travelling the world as part of her language studies and gathering experiences that she threads through her highly lyrical and evocative original songs. With influences ranging through, but not exclusive to, folk, jazz, new wave, classic rock and pop and much more besides she explores an ethereal world hovering on the edges of reality
?
Armed with her trusty ukulele, Amelia?s distinctive and beguiling voice is a captivating tool in her musical storytelling and recent singles Dublin Serenade and her latest, Perfect Storm, have gained national radio airplay in the UK and beyond.

A fantastic and distinctive live performer, Amelia has performed at Cambridge Folk festival, Czech Ukulele Festival, GNUF and in support and on stage with Steve Harley, Vin Garbutt and the Wedding Present as well as her own sell-out solo shows.

Mat Hunsley is an alt-folk musician based in Newcastle upon Tyne. His voice is smooth and rich; his lyrics, intelligent and memorable. Musically, things are easy-going but have a hidden depth for the careful listener. His single "Backwards Steps" is simply divine. There is no intro, Mat's voice takes us directly into his world in less than two seconds. Artists who manage to convey emotions only with their voice are pretty rare. But Mat is definitely one of them. His voice lets all the emotions shine through, unfiltered, and the message is honest, sincere, and deep. To feel the humanity of an artist just through his voice is a real gift.
