?Beautifully dappled electronics with a pop twist? - Clash

?Genius? - Tom Robinson, BBC Radio 6 Music

?Dream-pop at its absolute best? - BBC Introducing

On Friday, 3rd June at The Hunter Club we are thrilled to be hosting the launch party for the long-awaited, self-titled debut LP by Suffolk ambient dream-pop duo Amethysts. The pair have built a reputation for their unique live shows and stylistic songwriting resulting in press acclaim, national radio play and placements across Spotify and Apple Music playlists.

Building atmospheric, emotional soundscapes across the thirteen-track album, which was co-produced by acclaimed producer Shuta Shinoda (Daughter, Ghost Poet), the duo showcase their ability to create music with both immersive soundscapes and a catchy hook. From the sampled, spoken word ?Intro?, to the airy and emotional ?Wreckers?, to the beat heavy ?Frore Pt.2?, the album is full of moments of dark and light as the pair go on an exploration of their Alternative Experimental-Pop sound. Layering electronics with biting guitars, processed vocal samples, dappled arpeggiators and deep subby bass, Clarice?s soaring lead vocals are given the space to shine over the dreamy instrumentation across the album as Simon?s harmonies sit delicately around them.

Having gained features in the likes of Clash, 1883 Magazine, The Line of Best Fit, DIY, The Telegraph, Earmilk, Atwood Magazine and PopMatters, Amethysts have racked up over 1.5 million plays on Apple Music, hundreds of thousands of plays on Spotify and gained radio play across the likes of BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 Music, Amazing Radio, Kerrang Radio and BBC Introducing. No strangers to the festival circuit, the duo have also played sets at Latitude Festival, Secret Garden Party and BBC Introducing Live as well as opening for Mercury Prize Nominee Anna Meredith, Bessie Turner and Nothing But Thieves.

Support comes from fellow BBC Introducing favourite L U (who has been wowing audiences at clubs and festivals across the UK including Latitude and, recently, a triumphant BurySOUND headline show), incredible alt-folk duo (and BurySOUND 2022 Finalists) THREE YEARS YOUNGER and ascending singer-songwriting star GRACE WELLS.

THE HUNTER CLUB IS A SAFE SPACE
We take audience safety very seriously at The Hunter Club, and strongly believe that gigs can and should be safe spaces, free from harassment, intimidation, prejudice, bullying and violence. We expect that all artists, venue staff and attendees will respect our values, and we have a zero tolerance policy towards those who do not. Anyone who endangers the enjoyment and safety of others at a Washing Machine night will be ejected and barred. It is unfortunate that in 2022 we still have to say this stuff, but we hope that by doing so we can help to create an atmosphere where everyone feels safe and able to enjoy themselves
