The Nick Costley-White Quartet brings together four of the most dynamic and swinging players on the London scene. The core of the band is based on the sparring front line of Nick on guitar and longtime New York resident Alec Harper on tenor saxophone, battling it out on hard bop changes, continually pushing one another to greater heights of melodic invention in spontaneous and exciting improvisations.
This longtime friendship between Alec and Nick is supported by the exciting and propulsive rhythm section of Ferg Ireland on double bass and Will Cleasby on drums.
The band perform a rich mix of music curated to engage and excite audiences, drawing from the heavy tenors of Eddie Lockjaw and Johnny Griffin, alongside more contemporary influences and original compositions.
Expect hard swinging, fiery energy, and infectiously positive spirit from this hardworking band.
?I was struck by the sheer presence and melodic heft and ease of Nick Costley-White?s playing. The ideas flow naturally, the sound is gorgeous, there?s just nothing missing? - Sebastian Scotney, London Jazz News
