Philip "Swill" Odgers returns to the Water Rats, this time without social distancing to contend with. So lets have a bit of a party shall we?
With his latest, and already massively loved album Ghosts of Rock and Roll set for a Record Store Day vinyl release, a book due out and a hatful of new songs ready for the next Men They Couldn't Hang record, it would be an understatement to say that our man has been busy and highly productive of late. He's also found time to constuct his very own studio and, unbeaten and unbroken in spite of the desperately sad loss of the mighty Stefan Cush, managed, with TMTCH, to lay down the Red Kite Rising EP, in tribute to the great man.
So. It's a pretty good bet that a summer get together with Swill and some mates is going to be quite a night. They'll be lots of new songs, some old favourites and some surprises. And we'll spin a few discs and keep the bar open late too shall we?
This will be an absolute blast of summer fun. Don't miss it.
The iconic and legendary Water Rats has re-opened under new ownership and new management.
The venue has a prestigious history including Bob Dylan's first UK gig in 1962, The Pogues first gig in 1982 and Oasis' first London gig in 1994, along with a roll call of other household names throughout the years from Katy Perry to The Courteeners to Ra Ra Riot.
The Water Rats has undergone a top to bottom refurbishment.
There is a brand new high end D&B PA system, large stage and proper stage lighting rig.
Full Backline is provided if required: drum kit (minus breakables), bass amp (Hartke stack), 2 x guitar amps (Marshall stack and Fender combo).
The Water Rats is superbly located in what is the increasingly vibey music centre of King's Cross with unmatched transport links for London and beyond.
The venue also now offers great food from its brand new kitchen and a wide selection of drinks.
See you soon! The Water Rats.
