Glasgow Phoenix Choir In A Concert For Ukrainian Refugees In Hungary Event Title Pic

Description

The Glasgow Phoenix Choir is delighted to be performing a concert in Our Lady and St Ninian?s Church in aid of a very worthy cause. The Glasgow Phoenix Choir rose out of the ashes of the world-famous Glasgow Orpheus Choir and this season celebrates its platinum jubilee as well as 120 years since the foundation of its venerable predecessor.

The choir is directed by our conductor, Cameron Murdoch, who joined us in 1987 as Accompanist and Depute Conductor and who is an Honours graduate in music from the University of Glasgow. Cameron also studied at the RSAMD (now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland). He regularly plays harpsichord and piano with various musical ensembles and performs throughout the British Isles. Cameron is also Organist and Choir Master of St. John?s Renfield Church in Glasgow?s West End. Many of the pieces in the current Phoenix repertoire were arranged by Cameron.

The Glasgow Phoenix Choir performs over 20 concerts per year and each involves a range of music from choral standards to new music and, in addition, we feature many delightful solo performances by choir members.

SPONSORSHIP: This concert is hosted and sponsored by the Sovereign Order of St John of Jerusalem Knights Hospitaller, which is a Christian, chivalric, ecumenical and international community of members, who continue more than 900 years? of tradition helping the sick and the poor of all nationalities, races and creeds. The International office is located in Vancouver, Canada. Members of the Sovereign Order serve their communities, just as the original monks and Knights of the Sovereign Order vowed to do 900 years ago.
