Description

ROLLING IN THE AISLES COMEDY CLUB ? Headliner MIKE GUNN with comedians MERYL O'ROURKE, CRAIG DEELEY, & MC EDD HEDGES.

Three TOP comedians and an MC perform cutting edge stand up at Kettering Arts Centre's monthly ROLLING IN THE AISLES!

MIKE GUNN's history is as interesting and entertaining as his comedy. A misspent youth and a series of grim jobs cultivated his cynical outlook on life and a perverse desire led him to the world of stand-up. A self-confessed pessimist, he describes himself as ?not a natural choice for a career in laughter?. He has a rare ability to walk close to the line of what audiences find acceptable and yet still remain likable and funny. His reputation for being a bit unfriendly, a touch dark and even morose is really not true. In real life he?s loving, warm and philanthropic. Just a bit misunderstood.

Early in his career Mike was supporting the likes of Jo Brand and Alan Davies. He now headlines at all the top comedy venues in the UK and is rapidly reaching cult status on the circuit. He has performed internationally, taking his talent to Hong Kong, Ireland, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, New Zealand, and Saudi Arabia and to Australia at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, where he completed a five-week sell-out season. He also had the dubious honour of being the first comic to ever play in Kuantan, East Malaysia and has entertained the troops in the Falkland Islands.

Mike has also taken two solo shows to the Edinburgh Festival. His first performance saw him adopt the character of a funeral director in his show ?Good Grief? for which he received rave reviews. His follow up show at the festival was the provocative show: ?Uncut?. A departure from straight stand-up, this took a comedic look at drug addiction and recovery. In 2012 Mike and his touring partner Sean Collins completed a 35 date sell out UK tour.

Television appearances include Michael McIntyre?s Comedy Roadshow (BBC1), Celebrity Deal or no Deal (CH 4), Harry Hill?s TV Burp (ITV), Al Murray?s sit-com ?Time Gentlemen Please? (Sky), Soccer AM (Sky 1), The Comedy Store (Comedy Central), Live At Jongleurs (CH5), and The Gas (CH4). He is a regular on the Sky Poker channel. He has also been a contributor for The Guardian. He has written for Time Out, The List, The 11 O?clock Show (CH4) and even Match of The Day Magazine.

The List
?Piercingly funny?Fiendishly funny as dry as a dead mans bones?

The Guardian
?Mike Gunn will make you die laughing?

Acclaimed stand-up comic and accomplished TV writer MERYL O'ROURKE, revels in her bitterness. A potty mouthed potty trainer, she has delighted comedy audiences, written some of the best gags on telly and even hosted pop concerts (the last one to 12,000 people!)

She supported Frankie Boyle for part of his last tour, at his request. She also supported him at the Hammersmith Apollo. In his book 'Work! Consume! Die!' he calls Meryl "Inspiringly funny".

Meryl's cheeky routines of dysfunctionality get her choice gigs with major promoters. These include Up the Creek, Screaming Blue Murder, Off the Kerb, Banana, Comedy Company and The Funny Side; amongst many others. She performs 20-60 min sets, MCs and is also a popular choice for private parties and corporate events.

She runs her own club in Tooting where she is regular MC.

Her solo stand-up show Bad Mother? was a hit at Edinburgh and Brighton festivals. Directed by Foster's Comedy Award nominee Thom Tuck, it received 5-star reviews and was The Times? Critic?s Choice.

?????? Truly astonishing show?a must see? The New Current

????? Her devastatingly direct show stands out for it?s bold, boundary-breaking nature?the shocking casualness of her delivery is spot on.? Jewish Chronicle

????? Very funny. Tightly written, deftly performed, intimate storytelling and packed with punchlines? TheLatest

CRAIG DEELEY is a Birmingham-based stand-up who has crafted his art form over the last ten years. Craig's repertoire is one of anecdotal observational comedy, combining humble self-mockery and tapping into the ridiculousness of modern life and everyday occurrences that we all recognise.

Craig works throughout the UK and has toured extensively on the national comedy circuit including regular comedy festival appearances. He has fulfilled several broadcast media engagements and is also an experienced stage actor and improvisation performer.

What a revelation! Really good, great material! ? Cheeky Monkey

?Charming Brummie with a nice take on life? - Gay Times

"His 15 minutes were over far too quickly" - BBC Birmingham

With an incredibly endearing stage presence, Essex-boy EDD HEDGES has a natural affinity with an audience and since winning So You Think You?re Funny in 2013 his career has skyrocketed. Being a runner-up in subsequent finals of Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year and Piccadilly Comedy Club New Comedian of the Year, Edd went on to feature in Montreal?s Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, Just The Tonic?s Big Value Show (Edinburgh 2014) and the Machynlleth Comedy Festival which also marked his radio debut on Radio 4 Extra?s Comedy Club with Arthur Smith. Edd also recently guest starred in an episdoe of Joe Sutherland and Stephen Bailey?s On The Rocks podcast.

At only 23, Edd appears to be older and wiser than his years and has all the hallmarks of a very promising career.
