Cantilena was formed in 1970 by the late Adrian Shepherd. Visiting Islay they found support for a week of music from the islanders. The first Festival was in 2000 and has now become a regular event on Islay. Every July since, the beautiful Hebridean island is home to Cantilena?s professional musicians and students of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. From this they formed the Cantilena Festival Players and they perform their Viennese Programme for Bute Arts Society.
