Description

FUTURIST BAGS
Futurist Bags is a brand new duo from Neil Campbell of Astral Social Club in collaboration with Adam Davenport, his colleague in Leeds? near-legendary psych-noise-drone ensemble Vibracathedral Orchestra.

The Futurist Bags project takes Astral Social Club?s multiversal psychedelic electronic pop and passes it through a mutant acid house variant on Vibracathedral?s Fourth-World outer voyaging. Generated though a hybrid set-up of electronic devices, re-purposed instrumentation and home-made equipment, their output is virtually impossible to categorise. The music itself is best described as a joyous, sprawling, highly coloured soundscape taking in mutating acid house, space rock, bubbling electronica, cosmic future-jazz and pure noise.

A cornerstone of the UK weirdo underground, Campbell?s long musical history stretches back to the early 1980s and the days of postal tape-swap sheets. A central and ever-present figure in the fertile Yorkshire experimental DIY scene, his various projects place him as a peer and contemporary within the international network of psych/noise ensembles such as Ashtray Navigations, Sunroof! and Sunburned Hand Of The Man. He is perpetually involved in many ad-hoc sonic explorations, and in recent years has collaborated with the likes of Richard Youngs, Oren Ambarchi, Helene Celle, Stuart Chalmers, and Grumbling Fur. With an infectious energy and enthusiasm for exploration, Campbell?s approach to music is forever restless, inquisitive, ready to embrace new methods and formations.

JELLICA
Who?s that sneaky wagtail? Why, it?s Jellica of course, Cambridgeshire?s own Ceefax renaissance guy, 8-bit gatekeeper, chiptune iconoclast and cat-person. Known for those Gameboy activities, that mildly transgressive teletext sticker art and the overall Friends / Star Trek: Next Generation advocacy, Jellica?s playfully retroactive yearning for early digital culture skewers the time-and-taste-bound implications of asking ?Where were you in ?92?? by responding ?Playing Frogger on a ZX Spectrum?.

His recent sets of grimy bit-crushed dance music and lurid fractured visuals work to generate an imaginary present where an audience can only revisit the utopia of 90s rave culture via fragments of data stored on a corrupted home-computer hard-drive.
