In 1989 Ian Fountain became the youngest winner of the Artur Rubinstein Piano Masters Competition in Tel Aviv at the age of 19.
He was educated as a chorister at New College, Oxford and later at Winchester College. He studied piano under Sulamita Aronovsky at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Since then he has enjoyed an wide-ranging and varied career, performing extensively throughout Europe, the USA, UK and the Far East.
Since 2001 Ian Fountain has been a piano professor at the Royal Academy of Music, London.
He will play:
Chopin - Nocturne in E flat major, Op.55 No.2
Chopin - Bolero, Op.16
Chopin - Waltz in A minor, Op.34 No.2 "Grande Valse brillante"
Chopin - Prelude in C sharp minor, Op.45
Chopin - Nocturne in B major, Op.62 No.1
Chopin - Scherzo No.4 in E major, Op.54
Beethoven - Sonata in B flat major, Op.106 "Hammerklavier"
The recital will take place in the Princess Alexandra Concert Hall. Afterwards tea, coffee and cakes will be served. These refreshments are included in the ticket price.
All bookings must be made by June 6th, as the Catering Dept of the Royal Over-Seas League need to be told of the numbers.
