Formed in Eastern England in 1978 but based in Brittany since 1993, Churchfitters are that rare thing on the folk circuit?a band that consistently hit a bull?s-eye with every successive recording they make, due primarily to their always taking chances and making the listeners ears ring with unusual and exotic sounds.
The term ?multi-instrumental? is theirs for the taking, they utilise enough weaponry to single-handedly supply a small army, and versatility is something of a leitmotiv. Richly experienced musicians using a wide variety of instruments, they imaginatively and creatively produce, well?, great music!
Live, they are very entertaining with an infectious sense of fun and considered quirkiness! Churchfitters exemplify the inherently positive spirit that makes music one of the very best aspects of our culture. Top marks, without reservation, to their easy-going yet tight and energetic sound; theirs is a set full of character and vitality, always packed with variety, good humour and subtle touches.
