Project PH is a group of musicians brought together by former session bassist Yolanda Charles. Awarded an MBE for services to music in 2020, she has had a long career working with artists such as Hans Zimmer, Squeeze, BB King, Dave Stewart, Mick Jagger, Robbie Williams and Paul Weller.
Yolanda?s line for Project PH Instra-Mentals features the skills of the dynamic and exciting Laurie Lowe on drums. Australian Kim Murray offers a display of vibrant sound-crafting and compelling soloing as lead guitarist. They joined by the excellent Hamish Balfour on Keyboards/synth/piano and the lyrical Roberto Manzin on tenor saxophone.
This band expresses their uniquely original sound with tightly choreographed detail, often unpredictably performed, signalling accents or arrangement changes with a nod or glance. The scope for interplay and connection is wide and allows the musicians room to ?breathe?. No two shows are ever the same. In Project PH there is to be found a mix of beautiful ballads, heavy funk instrumental tracks and modern RnB influenced soulful tunes.
A pub and music bar on the perimeter of Cambridge Circus, at the corner of Romilly Street and Moor Street. First licensed in 1686 as the George, the current building dates from 1898 and the current name from 1986. (One of the old names, Cantons, can be seen being held by one of the gargoyles on the top of the building).
Famous in the 1960s and 70s for folk music and then punk, latterly it has become a jazz venue and home to SpiceJazz club. Up to 5 real ales from the McMullen range on offer and free admission to the main bar but you may have to pay for some music gigs in the basement.
Upstairs at the Spice is for drinks, eats and good times. Enjoy Great British classics with special seasonal dishes prepared daily by our chefs.
