Bossaphonik is excited to welcome back the Brighton based collective Lakuta after the highly memorable performance they gave us in 2017. One of the Bossaphonik highlights of that year, Lakuta deliver a sweet colourful set with influences of Afrobeat, soul, funk, jazz and tropical flavours.

A multi cultural 7 piece fronted by the charisma of Kenyan vocalist Siggi Mwasote with band members that hail a heritage from Ghana, Malaysia, Spain and the UK. The band boast a dazzling full horn section and fiery multi-part percussion and drum section, guitar, bass and drums. Also making an appearance on some special tracks is the West African kora.

Lakuta are signed to award winning label Tru Thoughts, a label that helped launch the careers of the likes of Quantic, Alice Russell and Bonobo and is also home to Omar, Hot 8 Brass Band and Afronaught amongst many pioneering leftfield dance music acts.
