Description

On Saturday October 22nd, Des Was A Bowie Fan rides the waves to the South Wales seaside, to beautiful Barry, the home of the log flume and Barry Town United, for a night indiepop, new wave, 60s Pop, post-punk and rock'n'roll dancing, 7pm till midnight at The Market Street Club, a cracking old workingmens club near Barry station.
 
The Supremes to The Smiths, Dusty Springfield to Depeche Mode, Tom Jones to Talking Heads, The Four Tops to The Fall, Elvis Presley to The Pixies, Sam Cooke to Suede, Jimmy Ruffin to David Bowie, all night long on the dancefloor at the upstairs club room.

Swim in the sea, and come get drunk.

*If you're travelling in, get off at Barry railway station. Turn right, then left up Market Street (2 minutes walk). If you're travelling back, the last train leaves Barry for Cardiff at 11.16pm. If you're going to the seaside first, the Market Street Club is a nice 15 minute walk away, or jump on the train from Barry Island for a 2 minute ride.

Des Was a Bowie Fan is a clubnight founded in 2013 at the Tutu's nightclub on the Strand in central London. It has since played out residencies at London east end venues Jamboree, The George Tavern, Paper Dress Vintage and Walthamstow Trades Hall, Edinburgh's Henry's Cellar Bar and Cardiff's Big Top, creating timeless dancefloors for lovers and dreamers of all ages.
