Strangers on a train has rarely looked a less promising plot line than it does here... At first. An amiable Finnish archaeology student, Laura (Seidi Haarla), finds herself sharing a compartment with a boorish Russian drunk, Ljoha (Yuriy Borisov), en route to a frozen Murmansk where she hopes to study ancient rock drawings. He, of course, ridicules her hopes and interests until they are joined, much to Laura?s relief, by another Finn, a sensitive type with a guitar. But the extent to which Ljoha looks and feels like a brutish Putin fan, or that we are taught to feel all Russians are now equally tarred, eventually comes back to bite us. As for that Finnish guitarist?(S)
